FAQ
What are microgreens?
Microgreens are young, edible plants that are harvested just after the first leaves develop. They are packed with flavor and nutrients.
How to wash microgreens?
If you cut your greens carefully, you don't have to wash them at all. It is clean and is not treated with any chemicals, unlike the store. But if you decide to wash, it is better to use the following method. Draw cold water into a container and put the microgreens in it, stir gently. This will dissolve the plaque from the leaves, the solids will settle to the bottom and the lighter particles will float and can be collected. Carefully remove the greens from the water, place them in a sieve for a few minutes to drain and spread them out on a paper towel to dry. You can use them immediately or put them in an airtight container where they can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days.
Will microgreens grow again after cutting?
Microgreens do not usually re-grow after cutting, so it is better to sow new seeds for the next harvest. Although some species can give a second harvest are cilantro, green basil, and peas. In this case, it is important to know that the amount of greens will be much smaller and the risk of mold development increases, since not all sprouts survive after cutting.
